Carla Fernández has gained international acclaim for her approach to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Mexico’s indigenous communities, expressed through clothing, textiles, and housewares. In 2013, Fernández was one of 11 worldwide recipients of the Prince Claus Award, which recognizes artists whose cultural actions have a positive impact on the development of their societies. Her work has been the subject of exhibitions at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston; Museo Jumex, Mexico City; Heath Ceramics, San Francisco; SIFA The O.P.E.N. Festival, Singapore; and included in collective exhibitions at MAD Museum, New York and Palacio de Iturbide and Museo Amparo, Mexico City, among others. Her brand has been featured in publications such as Elle, Vogue, i-D, Wallpaper*, and T, The New York Times style magazine.
