Gabriella Gómez-Mont founded and currently directs Laboratorio Para La Cuidad, a government department focused on urban creativity and civic innovation in Mexico City. This project began with a personal invitation from Dr. Miguel Angel Mancera, Mexico City’s newly elected Mayor, to incorporate the initiative into the city’s official structure over the next six years. In addition to directing Laboratorio Para La Cuidad, Gómez-Mont is a multilingual writer, visual artist, documentary film director, cultural advisor, and arts curator. She has founded projects including Tóxico Cultural, Cine Abierto, and Laboratorio Curatorial 060, for which she has won several international awards and recognitions including the Prince Claus Fund, Holland; First Place for Best Art Practice Award, Italy; and IMCINE National Film Grant, Mexico. She is also a City 2.0 TED Prize grand awardee, a TED Senior Fellow, and an MIP Media Lab Directors Fellow.
