Juan Mora Catlett has showcased the indigenous world in a unique way with his feature films Return to Aztlán and Erendira Ikikunari, both of which have received several awards in Mexico and abroad. He has been a John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and Guggenheim Foundation fellow, and a member of Mexico’s Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte. Catlett has received two Ariel awards for script and editing, the Best Director award for experimental film from the Instituto Mexicano Del Cinematografía, and recently, the Golden Nosferatu from the International Fantastic Film Festival (FERATUM). Catlett has created approximately 118 documentaries for Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Canal 22, Canal 11, and Instituto Nacional del Bellas Artes (INBA). He is a professor at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC) at UNAM, and also teaches at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, in Mexico.
