Marisa Canales is a very active and internationally acclaimed flautist as well as a Latin Grammy nominated record producer. She has premiered over 50 works for flute in different scorings written for her by leading American, Mexican and Latin American composers. Canales has performed with Mexico’s leading orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra of the Americas, as well as the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), the Sinfonietta de Paris, and Boston’s Unitas Ensemble. With the LSO she recorded Lalo Schifrin’s Concierto Caribeño, a work dedicated to her. She is also the founder and CEO of UDC Media, a media holding company that includes Urtext Digital Classics, Latin America’s leading classical label; Urtext Cinema, which produces multimedia content, interactive Apps, video profiles and films about music; and Kutzac, a newly-created digital platform for sharing the work of young Mexican and Latin American rock and pop bands.
